President Putin told Oliver Stone that the CIA created and nurtured Al-Qaeda and its leader Osama bin Laden during the Soviet era to help kick the Russians out of Afghanistan and later supported terrorists in Chechnya.
In an interview with the acclaimed American film director, Putin says there is proof that “US colleagues” meddled in the two Chechen wars where Russia was engaged in counter-terrorism operations against Islamist militants in the North Caucasus.
